Details about the event:

-It is for newcomer youth between the ages of 14-24. It will be from 9am-5pm.
-Food, refreshments, and ttc tickets/tokens will be provided.
-The event will be just outside Kennedy Subway Station, at 2425 Eglinton Avenue, East 3rd Floor, Suite 300,Everest College Career Room.
-At the event we will have guest speakers, including the key note speaker who is Marina Nemat. Ms. Nemat is a distinguished writer of several books including “Prisoner of Tehran”
-We are also hoping to have community agencies showcase some of their services, especially employment related services
-We are hoping to bring youth together to discuss different issues, and form a group called the “Ambassadors of Peace”, which will be a newcomer youth led initiative. The group will address different issues in the community.

Some of the benefits of getting involved are:

-You can learn new skills
-You can meet new people (newcomer youth, but also community workers who can act as references for you)
-You can learn about community organizations that can be of help to you
-You can learn about different social issues that affect you, or your community
